Machine made carpets for everyday homes in Singapore

This page is for our machine made carpets only. These are power loomed rugs that give you good design and comfort at a more practical price point. They are suitable for busy homes, rentals and areas where you want something attractive but easier to care for and replace.

You will find carpets in different reeds, sizes and styles, from simple modern patterns to more traditional and tribal looks. Many of these pieces are available on the floor in our Tampines showroom if you would like to see and feel them before you decide.

How to choose a machine made carpet

For living rooms and TV areas with children or frequent guests, choose a density and material that feel comfortable but are still easy to clean. Five hundred and seven hundred reeds carpets are often enough for heavy use, while one thousand to seventeen hundred reeds work better in spaces you want to feel more special or a bit more luxurious.

Consider the room and traffic level
Think about size first

A carpet that is too small will make the room feel disjointed. For most living rooms, 160 x 230 cm or 200 x 300 cm works well. For larger open plan spaces, you may need 240 x 340 cm or bigger so the sofa and coffee table sit comfortably on the rug.

Match the style to your furniture

Modern designs work well with simple sofas and neutral walls. Traditional and tribal patterns can add depth to plain spaces or pair nicely with wood furniture and richer colours. It is usually easier to match the carpet to your existing sofa and flooring rather than the other way around.

Set a realistic budget

Machine made carpets allow you to cover more rooms without a very high cost. Decide which areas you want to prioritise. For example, you might choose a higher reeds or more detailed carpet for the main living room and a simpler one for bedrooms or play areas.

What do reeds numbers like 500, 700, 1000, 1200, 1500, 1600 and 1700 mean

For machine made carpets, reeds are a simple way to describe density. In general, a higher number of reeds means finer yarn placement and a rug that feels fuller underfoot with more detailed patterns. Lower reeds are more budget friendly and practical for high traffic or more casual spaces.

700 reeds carpets

A good middle point for most family homes. Seven hundred reeds carpets still feel comfortable while being easier to budget for across several rooms.

Higher density machine made carpets with more intricate patterns and a fuller feel. These work well when you want something more premium without going fully handmade, especially in main living rooms and formal sitting areas.

Very high density carpets with very fine designs and a luxurious feel underfoot. These pieces are ideal as statement rugs in important spaces such as main living rooms, reception areas and master bedrooms. They are also suitable if you like the look and detail of handmade rugs but prefer the consistency of machine made production.

Machine made or handmade, which is better for you

Both machine made and handmade carpets have strengths. The right choice depends on how long you want to keep the rug, how often you like to change designs and how much daily wear it will receive.

Machine made carpets are ideal if you:
  • Want something practical for children, pets or frequent visitors

  • Prefer to change designs from time to time

  • Are furnishing rental units, secondary rooms or multiple areas at once

  • Want to manage cost while still having the house feel warm and finished

Handmade carpets may be better if you:
  • Want a piece with more character that ages with you

  • Are furnishing a long term home or a space you do not plan to change often

  • Prefer traditional, tribal or very rich patterns with more depth

  • Are comfortable with a higher upfront investment

Caring for machine made carpets

Machine made carpets are generally easier to look after than handmade rugs, but some simple habits will help them look better for longer.

Treat spills quickly

Blot spills as soon as possible with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel. For most everyday stains, a mild carpet cleaner that is safe for synthetic fibres will be enough. Always test a small hidden area first.

Use underlay where needed

Underlay can help keep the carpet in place, add cushioning and reduce wear on both the rug and the floor underneath. This is especially useful on smooth tiles or timber flooring.

Regular vacuuming

Vacuum the carpet regularly to remove dust and crumbs. Most machine made carpets handle standard rotating or beater bar heads better than handmade ones, but still take extra care along the edges to avoid fraying.

Deep cleaning when it looks dull

When the carpet starts to look flat or has stains you cannot remove on your own, it is time for a professional wash. Proper cleaning helps refresh the colours and remove deeper dirt from the fibres.

If you are not sure whether your carpet needs cleaning or can still be revived with a light refresh, you can send us photos, and we will advise.

See machine made carpets in person at our showroom

On screen, many machine made carpets can look similar. In person, you will notice differences in pile height, density, texture and how the colours react to your lighting. At our Tampines showroom, we can lay several rugs side by side so you can compare them properly.

Bring photos or measurements of your room if you can, and let us know roughly what budget you have in mind. We will help you narrow down a few options that make sense for your space and lifestyle.
